As a Registered Clinical Counsellor in Vancouver, BC, I can help if you are stressed, anxious or depressed. At their extreme, anxiety and depression can be crippling, making you feel hopeless. Life becomes a struggle and your relationships and work suffer. The impact on your life can range from mild to severe. Sometimes difficult or traumatic events contribute to your problems and make it hard to be present for the life right in front of you. If you have difficulties with sleep, your appetite, or energy level, focusing, procrastinating, excessive worry, panic attacks, or feeling flat, irritable, or despair; as your therapist, I can help you to get your life back.
Within the safety of our relationship, we can work to help you overcome problems that stem from trauma, anxiety, and/or depression. We can help you to find more enjoyment and pleasure in your life. Whether you want to be able to focus at work, sleep more regularly, manage your emotions, free yourself from panic attacks, or find relief from a crushing depression, we can tailor your therapy to fit your particular needs. And we can help you to begin to make peace with your past to get the most out of life now.
I use an integrative approach to therapy which means that I use a variety of methods so we can use what makes the most sense for your particular challenges. Reichian therapy is also a core part of my therapy approach that is particularly effective for overcoming difficult emotions related to anxiety, depression, and traumatic experiences. Reichian therapy resolves problems on a deeper level than talk therapy alone because it addresses problems on an emotional and physical level. Many symptoms of anxiety and depression are rooted in your body. For example, a panic attack or anxious, racing heart are obvious physical experiences. A chronic depressed state can diminish your energy and have your body feeling heavy and weighted down. Working with your body and emotions helps to get at the root of your issues and can bring lasting results.
I am skilled at working with teens, adults, individuals and couples and use the Gottman method of couples therapy, which has a research base of more than 30 years. I offer a free 30 minute consultation by telephone or as part of an initial session, to ensure that me and my approach are a fit for you. Book your consultation now by contacting me in my Vancouver office by email at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 778-926-1325.

When you’ve been struggling with anxiety or depression for awhile it can be hard to feel that there is any hope for things to change. Added to how stuck you might be feeling is the constant reinforcement in our culture of the idea of a quick fix. It's the "Here, just do this one thing and you will feel better indefinitely" kind of attitude. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all about people getting relief as quickly as possible. It’s just that this kind of attitude can be a setup when what is needed is patience, time, and realistic, achievable goals.
