Having faced significant hardship earlier in his own life, Steven learned firsthand, through his own therapy, how much courage it takes to ask for help, and how much is possible on the other side of it. That experience shapes how he works with every client today.

Steven believes problems are opportunities. The challenges that arise between people, and within ourselves, create some of the best chances to grow and learn. Clients often describe leaving sessions with a renewed sense of purpose and direction, more freedom, peace, and energy, and a stronger connection to their own life and relationships.

Trained in Satir's Family Systems Psychotherapy (including internal family work), Emotionally Focused and Meaning Attribution practices, Somatic Transformation, and neuroscience-informed approaches, Steven uses experiential, body-mind methods to help clients release old, unhelpful beliefs and coping patterns and to build new ones — work personally endorsed by Dr. John Banmen, co-author of Satir Model: Family Therapy and Beyond.

Steven's private practice, Counsellingandtherapyservices.com, has helped many hundreds of people, families, and kids, and he offers sessions by secure video from anywhere in the world.

Past positions include Military and Family Life Consultant for the Department of Defense (more than 23 military assignments worldwide), medical social worker, school counsellor, addictions counsellor, and graduate school psychology instructor.
