Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP)

Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP), Solution Focused Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, Brainspotting

The goal of this approach is to help clients overcome resistance to experiencing their true feelings that are too frightening and/or painful.

Note:  Some practitioners practice Emotionally Focused Therapy rather than Emotional Focused therapy.  You will want to confirm that it is indeed Emotion Focused Therapy that the counsellor/psychologist practices.

Brainspotting locates points in the client’s visual field that help to access unprocessed trauma in the subcortical brain. The therapist uses attunement to access the brainspots to help process difficult events.
