Practice Information
I work primarily with adults who are navigating trauma, including complex trauma, anxiety, negative self-perception, difficult emotions, or patterns connected to past experiences. These experiences may also show up as anxiety and/or depression. I especially welcome clients from bicultural or multicultural backgrounds, immigrants, international students, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ communities, and neurodivergent adults. You may be exploring identity, cultural expectations, language, relationships, or the experience of living between different worlds.
My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and reflective. Depending on your needs and readiness, I may draw from EMDR, attachment-based and parts-oriented approaches, mindfulness, somatic work, and creative tools such as metaphor and imagery. I aim to understand you within the context of your relationships, history, culture, and current life, while working at a pace that feels manageable and appropriate for you.
Having moved to Canada as an adult myself, I understand that migration and living between cultures can shape identity and relationships in complex ways. As a first-generation immigrant and BIPOC counsellor, I am mindful of culture, family and community expectations, and experiences of prejudice.
I offer counselling in both English and Japanese through Chroma Counselling in downtown Vancouver, with in-person and online sessions available.
