Welcome, it can be overwhelming to reach out to a Therapist for support and I respect your courage in taking this first step. I'm a Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 20 years of clinical experience in a wide range of settings including non-profit agencies, EFAP, public mental health and currently in private practice. I've worked with a wide range of folks including youth and adults across the lifespan. I'm currently providing Clinical Counselling for individuals, families and those in relationships both in person and online. I work with clients to address many concerns including mood, emotional dysregulation, substance use, the effects of various forms of traumatic stress, grief, occupational work stress, sexuality/identity and family/parenting concerns. My approach is informed by my training and teachings from;
- Buddhist Psychology
- DBT
- Neurobiology
- Mindfulness
- EMDR
- Polyvagal theory
- Collaborative and Social Justice orientations
- Harm reduction/Biopsychosocial model
I see my role as being a guide in supporting clients with exploring and engaging in the change process. I assume all clients have wisdom and lived experiences that has allowed them to survive but maybe you're ready to move beyond "surviving" to living a life that you prefer. I am particularly interested in fostering personal agency and self-awareness throughout the therapeutic process. As part of my work with clients, I offer psychoeducation about what's happening in the body as well as practical skills so that clients can better understand their somatic reactions. My hope is through this awareness, clients can view themselves and their conditioned responses with more compassion and skills to regulate their nervous systems to establish a felt sense of safety within the body. As part of building emotional safety, it is important to me that we work collaboratively and I encourage clients to be curious about the therapeutic process.
If my practice sounds like the right fit for you, please feel free to reach out and we can begin with a free phone consult. Everyone is welcome and I strive to maintain a therapeutic space that is inclusive and welcoming. My office is centrally located and I offer both in person and online appointments. I look forward to hearing from you when you're ready to begin the work together.
