Welcome, and thanks for visiting my page. Sometimes it takes a lot of courage to reach out for support and you're taking the first step! My name is Sacha and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor with over 20 years of experience working with folks struggling with the effects of traumatic stress, substance misuse and a wide range of life’s challenges including significant transitions, grief/loss, mood disorders, parenting and relationship concerns. I provide clinical counselling for individuals, families and couples as well as youth. I also provide remote counselling by phone & secure video sessions.
My clinical training includes Cognitive Behaviour Therapy; Dialectical Behaviour Therapy; EMDR, Mindfulness; Sensorimotor Psychotherapy for Trauma, Solution focused therapies and is informed by Attachment Theory. However, my practice is guided by the individual needs of my clients so our work together will incorporate a blend of modalities in response to what feels right for each person I'm working with.
My areas of clinical practice include:
- PTSD & Complex Trauma (Childhood Abuse)
- Substance Misuse
- Family and/or Relationship Conflict
- Emotional dysregulation
- Dissociative symptoms
- Grief/Loss
- Anxiety/Depression/Bipolar Disorders
- Postpartum Anxiety/Depression
- Vicarious Trauma/Secondary Traumatic Stress due to occupational work stress exposure ie: Healthcare providers and First Responders
In terms of therapeutic philosophy, I am committed to practicing from a trauma informed, client centered and collaborative approach. Regardless of therapeutic modality, my primary focus is to form a therapeutic relationship that is built on respect, inclusiveness and curiosity. My hope is to create a therapeutic environment that feels safe enough to explore new ways of being and coping in response to some of the challenges you're facing. I hold the assumption that clients have much wisdom about surviving and coping but are looking for new ways to move forward and begin to thrive in their lives. As a therapist, I truly respect the courage and strength it takes for folks to reach out and ask for counselling support and I look forward to walking alongside you in that process.
