Practice Information
Hello, I'm Stephanie (she/her/hers). I provide compassionate and collaborative care. I welcome anyone seeking counselling support aged 18+ with added interest in anxiety, self-worth, trauma and relational challenges.
I work with clients so they can have the skills and self awareness to feel less overwhelmed, have a secure sense of identity, purpose and increased connection in their relationships. It's also a space for personal development or to talk about the things you can't with others. Often my clients find themselves engaging in unhelpful patterns of anxiety, overthinking, hopelessness and fear of failure. They may be undergoing life transitions, have adverse childhoods, challenging family relationships or friendships, experience relational/intergenerational/past trauma, or carry the sense they are different. My clients want to understand the core of their challenges for lasting change.
I am described as having a kind, calming and reassuring presence that makes clients feel understood and cared for. I also bring a friendly and easy-going nature that immediately puts others at ease. You will feel encouraged and supported as you consider new patterns and skills, gently sit with emotions, reflect on the different parts of yourself and process your thoughts and experiences.
My work is trauma informed and neuroaffirming, and rooted in attachment theory and mindfulness concepts that are integrated with other evidence-based and somatic therapies such as parts work, TIST, EFT, ACT, DBT and Brainspotting to enhance skills and reconnect mind and body. I also consider the intersection of society and culture on lived experience and how this influences our identity, beliefs, relationships and challenges. Together we will co-create goals and a therapeutic approach that suits your personalized needs.
About Me
As someone who has grown from my own personal adversity and experiences of inequity and difference, I am passionate about clients embracing their true selves and the resilience that results from their hardships as the foundation for growth. I am a first generation immigrant having settled to Canada at the age of three. I am also a partner in an interracial marriage, a parent of bi-racial children, and an advocate for loved ones with ADHD. Prior to counselling, I have 18 years of meaningful professional experience supporting adults, children, youth and families impacted by conflict, trauma, violence, sexual assault or crisis.
Education
I believe in continued self-development and participate in on-going consultation and learning. I have an MA in Counselling Psychology and added training in trauma, somatic work and relationships.
