Practice Information
I help children, teens, and adults find their own way to express what's going on inside, so they can understand themselves better and feel more confident in their lives.
Some people make sense of things by talking. Others connect more easily by a creative, experiential path; writing, making, or listening to something that captures how they feel. Most of us do a bit of both. As a Registered Clinical Counsellor and Certified Music Therapist, I offer counselling, music therapy, or a blend, and we figure out together what works for you.
You might be reaching out because anxiety or low mood has been hanging on, you're healing from trauma, or you're in recovery from addiction. You might be a parent or caregiver looking for support for an autistic or neurodivergent child or adult. You might feel stuck in old patterns and want to understand why. Or you might be looking for a creative way to express, explore, and make sense of what you're going through.
Children (8+): Sessions are mostly play, movement, and making music together. I work closely with parents on goals like taking turns, sharing feelings, and building confidence. Talking comes in as your child is ready.
Teens: Music takes the pressure off sitting face to face and talking. We might write songs, make beats, or record, so your teen builds a real skill while working through what's hard.
Adults: We look at what's shaped you: your history, your patterns, and your relationships. Sometimes the biggest insights come from doing, like improvising or writing lyrics, not just talking.
Musical experience: I work with everyone from people who have never played a note to experienced musicians. I'm here to help those who want to use music to go deeper; we can explore psychodynamic work (looking at how your past shapes your present) or meditative practices.
You don't need any musical experience. I'm here to build a genuine connection with you, at your pace, so you can feel more confident in yourself and with others.
About me: Music came first. I grew up playing classical piano, then played in gospel, soul, and funk bands, and taught piano and voice before training in music therapy and counselling. I've worked for over 14 years in neurological rehabilitation, mental health, long-term care, and addiction recovery.
