Ruth S. Nyman, MSW, RSW Therapy and Counselling Services
From time to time, serious problems come up in life; such as job-related stress, family and child issues, couple and marriage difficulties, depression or anxiety, or other painful experiences. You may have tried to deal with the problem and become stuck, hurt, angry or frustrated.
Should I Seek Professional Help?
Sometimes, these problems are just too difficult to deal with on your own. I offer counselling to individuals, couples and families that are interested in having the help of an experienced therapist. This kind of counselling can make a difference in the short-term, as a way of working through a difficult, but temporary situation. I can work with you and offer support, compassion, guidance and explore possible solutions with you. It does take patience, openness and courage, to work on your personal issues. At times, it feels like a difficult journey, but it is worth it.
Am I The Right Therapist For You?
To find out if I am the right therapist for you, you are welcome to call me and we can discuss the issues you are having difficulty with. There is no cost to you and together we can talk things over for about, half-an-hour. Over the years, I have found this method works well, and allows you to determine if I am a suitable therapist for you.
A Personal Note From Ruth
I want to say, there is no shame in seeking help. Sooner or later we all need a hand with something. Some years ago, my husband and I were having some marriage problems of our own. Yes, I am a therapist, but we are like any other couple when it comes to relationship problems. So, we talked it over and decided to see a marriage counsellor and we are so glad we did. This is my way of saying, "I not only offer this service to others, but I also use it in my own life."
My Experience And Background
In addition to my private practice, I have worked as a therapist and counsellor for over fifteen years in a variety of settings. I began my career as a social worker in the community mental health field. Also, I was a therapist in a private clinic for a number of years, working with adults with a variety of issues. For a time, I was employed within the elementary school system as a counsellor to children and their families. In my work over the years, I have seen that counselling can safely address problems, reduce conflict and restore the good feelings in a relationship. In closing, I look forward to hearing from you and answering any additional questions you may have.
