Drawing from the latest research on neuroscience, mindfulness and attachment theory, I'm a warm, client-centered therapist who views therapy as an opportunity to compassionately work with what's creating suffering in a safe and sacred environment. What matters most in therapy is that a client feels like they can bring their entire selves into our space to work through what's necessary for healing.
I've been a therapist for 16 years and my clients tend to be going through a significant life transition usually brought on by a significant death, an illness, an ending of a relationship or job or because they are ready to process and heal from trauma (could be C-PTSD or PTSD). Typically, they feel in chaos physically, emotionally and mentally and yearn to feel steady and regulated again. I also work with many people who are struggling with depression and/or anxiety or who are caring for someone who is.
I also work as a school counsellor and educator and blend in an educational approach to therapy when fitting; I have passion for sharing with clients coping tools that I believe will help them. Through my work as a school counsellor, I also have a lot of experience working with parents and family systems as well as what navigating the school experience involves. I have prior counselling experience at BC Cancer Agency and the Friends for Life Society (working with groups and individuals with life-limiting illnesses) which both left me with such deep respect for human resiliency even in the face of life-altering illness and mortality.
Choosing a therapist that really suits you is important and can be tricky! If my words resonate with you and you feel like I could be a good fit, I encourage you to contact me to have a free consultation. With warmth and best wishes, Nicole
