Practice information:
I have over 25 years experience in providing individual counselling to adult women and men. I offer counselling for a wide variety of difficulties including trauma (recent and past), anxiety, depression, addictions, and stress.. I have a PhD from the University of British Columbia in Interdisciplinary Studies (Counselling Psychology and Social Work). I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and a Registered Clinical Social Worker. Along with my counselling practice I also taught classes on line at Yorkville University, Fredericton NB, in the Masters of Counselling Psychology program.
I work from an approach that honours the voice and strength of each unique individual. I often incorporate mindfulness into the therapy process and I have a keen interest in meditation and its proven benefits for both physical and mental health. I believe that an awareness of emotions, thoughts, and body sensations is a central ingredient in the therapy process, and I work with clients to enhance this capacity for wakefulness.
I strongly believe that everyone is capable of deep change that can bring more fullness and richness to life. Recent research on the neuroplasticity of the brain (ie. the brain’s capacity to change at any age) brings tremendous hope for meaningful and lasting internal shifts. These internal shifts can serve to free up our potential, and enable us to make more responsive and adaptive choices.
I offer 15 minute free telephone consultation.
COVID-19 UPDATE: For the time being, I have transitioned to Telehealth sessions, that is sessions through a secure video platform, or telephone.
