Grounded in the values of transparency, humility, empathy and empowerment, my practice acknowledges that mental health injuries and difficulties are normal responses to certain situations and circumstances.
Counselling experience in a university wellness center, and in health authorities in Northern BC and Nova Scotia, has given me a strong background in working with depression, anxiety, panic, people-pleasing, various types of trauma, borderline personality and concerns common to post-secondary students including life transitions, academic demands and pressure to succeed. Other areas of interest include addiction, grief, and management of emotional reactions and expression.
With awareness that everyone has a different set of circumstances they are navigating, I use an eclectic approach to therapy that adjusts to fit the needs of each client. My approach draws largely on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Emotion Focused Family Therapy, Attachment-Based Therapy, and body-based mindfulness practice.
I strive to be an LGBTQIA+ ally, and to respect the different cultural, political, and family social systems that everyone exits within. I’m grateful to get to know the paths you’re walking and to be a part of your journey.
