Lydia's works with individuals and couples who are supporting a loved one on their recovery journey from mental illness or addictions. She brings 20 years of experience to her practice as well as training in various evidence-based modalities. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) are utilized along with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Helping tell the difference between enabling and supporting is examined in-depth. Principles of SMART recovery are also incorporated into a client driven (yet counsellor guided) approach to re-discovering hope. Additionally, Lydia sees individuals who are struggling to cope with intense emotions and a high level of sensitivity (often known as "empaths").
Lydia also works regularly with those who are returned to work from a medical leave. While assisting in developing a successful gradual return plan, contact with your family physician may be of benefit. If this is the case, consent to release information will be discussed with you first.
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration and the rate is $110. If you have extended medical, please contact your provider to see if counselling is a covered service. Lydia's experience spans working in both the public and private sectors, including forensics. Her degree is a masters of science (clinical psychology) with a specialization in behavioural medicine. More information can be found on Lydia's website.
