In 2000, Lydia left the film industry to pursue her passion of helping people help themselves. Now, over 20 years later, she brings her wealth of experience and education to her private practice based in the Cowichan Valley, BC.
Lydia works with individuals and couples who are supporting a loved one on their recovery journey from mental illness or addictions. Helping tell the difference between enabling and supporting is examined in-depth. Principles of SMART recovery are also incorporated into a client driven (yet counsellor guided) approach to re-discovering hope.
She brings training in various evidence based modalities. Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) are utilized along with acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Additionally, Lydia sees individuals who are struggling to cope with intense emotions and a high level of sensitivity (often known as "empaths").
Sessions are 50 minutes in duration and the rate is $135-$150. If you have extended medical, please contact your provider to see if counselling is a covered service. Lydia's experience spans working in both the public and private sectors, including forensics. Her degree is a masters of science (clinical psychology) with a specialization in behavioural medicine and clinical neuropsychology.
