For over 25 years I have counselled individuals for a wide variety of difficulties including anxiety, depression, trauma, complex trauma, addictions, stress and bereavement to name a few.
I hold a Masters degree in counselling psychology and I am a registered provider for Veterans Affairs Canada through Medavie, FNMH Residential Schools and for CVAP Crime Victim’s Program.
My approach to counselling is oriented to body, mind and spirit. I draw on years of working with and training in trauma and abuse healing work, several body centred therapies and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. I also use sound and music psychotherapy.
I have a passion for healing and growth and helping individuals transform difficult emotions, thoughts, beliefs and body sensations moving towards a more grounded, centred, happy “at home” experience inside themselves.
My approach is attachment based knowing the impact on the development of the brain of earliest experience in our most significant relationships. This can bring understanding to the roots of our struggles and behavioural patterns so that we can establish healthier ones that bring about more satisfying, meaningful relationships.
I encourage practices outside the therapy session to cultivate mindfulness and self compassion to assist in calming the nervous system and improving mood for those struggling with anxiety and/or depression.
Neuroscience is providing evidence of neuroplasticity bringing new hope and validation for the possibility of deep internal shifts that help free up our energies and potential enabling us to make more responsive and adaptive choices.
I work on-line using zoom.ca or by telephone.
