My job is not just what I do – it’s who I am and how I make sense of the world. I have been a social worker since 1995; the bulk of my recent professional background lies in supporting individuals around the many emotions that accompany challenging physical and neurological health conditions:
If you live in Greater Victoria, BC I can meet with you either in your home or in my office. However, my passion is helping to make counselling more accessible to everyone across Canada, by providing services online. I have designed Rainstorm Counselling & Consulting to offer the kinds of services I would have liked to access when I was a busy professional and parent and in need of counselling support. For example, check out my website to learn more about email counselling, a relatively unknown genre.
In the safe space that counselling creates, lays the capacity to learn about what scares us and thereby promote change and growth in our life. My style is reflective and relational, as experience has taught me that it is the only way to build trust. Having that trusting relationship allows you the courage to get out of your comfort zone and try something new, paving the way to a better life. I believe that counselling teaches self-compassion (to honour your own truth), and empathy (to understand what is true for others in your life).
