I am a registered psychologist and have been practicing since 2003. I do individual therapy with adults primarily from a psychodynamic perspective, although I incorporate other approaches such as cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT), EMDR, and trauma-informed practices. Much of my work has focused on helping people who are experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or stress. Depending on your needs, therapy can be either short-term or longer-term. Short-term therapy can be helpful in decreasing symptoms or adjusting to new life circumstances, whereas longer-term therapy can be useful for addressing longer standing issues, such as low self-esteem or the after-effects of trauma.
Many of my clients have experienced trauma in their lives and are struggling with its after-effects. These can include depression, sleep difficulties or PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder.) I work with people who have experienced child abuse and neglect, adult trauma, and with first responders and veterans.
I believe that many of the thoughts and feelings that are causing difficulty today often once served an adaptive purpose. A trusting therapeutic relationship can help you examine the role that these thoughts and feelings once played and how they may be impacting your life today. Therapy can then help you develop new ways of responding to life's inevitable challenges. Psychotherapy can lead to increased resilience to stress and improved self-esteem.
I am currently seeing clients in the office and online.
