Jordan is a counsellor for Manifest Wellness a men's mental health clinic. Through his counselling work at Manifest he aims to destigmatize mental health support for men, and increasing access to counselling.
Jordan Malm holds a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of British Columbia, post-baccalaureate diplomas in Psychosocial Rehabilitation and Guidance Studies and a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering. Over the last ten years, Jordan has had a wide range of training in clinical and community settings supporting men through substance dependence, career transitions and mental health diagnosis and wellbeing.
Jordan's passion towards working in mental health was illuminated after volunteering with individuals struggling with severe and persistent mental health and substance dependence concerns in the community and hospital settings. This inspired his career transition out of engineering, giving him the opportunity to acquire further clinical experiences such as working in detoxification treatment centres, clinical and community settings which includes psychiatrists, nurses and social workers, as well as private settings working alongside parents, youth and the Ministry of Children and Family Development.
"What brings an individual into counselling is as unique as their journey to get there. However, my aim is to have each client leave with the common benefit of sustained growth and development. I work from a foundation of psychosocial, strength and evidence-based treatment approaches to guide the therapeutic process and support the client in feeling equipped in actualizing their goals and aspirations.
I maintain hope and communicate an unwavering belief and optimism in my clients throughout our working alliance. The courage to be who we are and get what we want out of life starts with a belief in ourselves. My aim is to help men discover and understand their strengths, values, and resources in order to have a voice, feel empowered and develop agency and resiliency in their personal and professional lives." - Jordan Malm
