Counselling Practice Website
Practice Information
I love helping people, which is why I chose to go into counselling. I have worked in mental health since 2007 in a variety of areas. While I use a variety of therapies, I am client-centered and incorporate research-based therapies into my sessions. Together with my clients, we choose which therapies to use depending on the individual characteristics of the client and the area we are working on, to help ensure the best approach.
I have been trained in EMDR through an EMDRIA approved trainer, and I use EMDR with interested clients.
While my focus is on individuals age 14 and older, I also work with couples and families. This varied experience allows me to also use skills from couples and families with individuals who want to improve relationships with their partners or family, such as improving communication.
My background in working for federal corrections, as well as my training through firstresponderhealth.org and being in their directory, gives me valuable insight into working with first responders. Being married to a partner who is a recently retired first responder, I am also familiar on a personal level of the impact the job can have on family.
I love to learn, which means I am committed to ongoing professional development to ensure that I am always providing relevant, evidence-based therapy to clients.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with my husband and two sons. I love to document our life through photography and scrapbooking. I also enjoy getting away together, spending time camping in the woods or being near the ocean.
