About Janice Amy Yiana
I have been formally supporting traumatized and distressed clients, children and families in British Columbia communities that I've lived, worked and studied in for twelve years. It means I'm in the same boat on similar journeys with my clients as they navigate the vast changes in our times.
My international work has been to meet with trauma therapists, doctors, nurses, and consciousness researchers worldwide and see what helps us stay connected to our own humanness and what is evolving that keeps us connected on the planet, to others, and to what we know and feel to be our essential, core nature as eternal beings.
My early volunteer work was with 76 orphaned children in India at an ashram run by a rare yogi master, Baba Hari Dass. His life dedication to peace and love within the maya or chaos of external life showed me how to raise successful children out of impoverishment, neglect, family and community disasters, and soul-spiritual harassment.
My work in Waldorf Education and Anthroposophy combine with the skills of a Master's degree in Transpersonal Clinical Counselling to help individuals, children and families to find wholesome, rounded approaches to creating inner warmth, steadiness, and courage in these times of evolutionary and also destructive technological revolution. I work with researchers worldwide looking into the effects of technology on toddlers, children and adults and how to work with counterbalancing practices to keep in good human and relational development, moderating reactivity in the face of continual exposure to distressing information and sense-world overstimulation.
I work to help clients to:
* Manage anxiety and know that they are accompanied by others who care.
* Know their value as human beings despite what shadowy messages have been straining their sense of self and life.
* Understand their own core inner conflicts and what they mean to their evolving path of life and to their relationships.
* Understand why some things happen to them, or inside of themselves, that don't seem to fit or accept the storyline of their known world.
* Manage the great passages of human life such as hormonal changes, going to university or other trainings, working in jobs that don't inspire them and preparing to make the step or leap into the next better thing, marriage, the death of friends or family, illness, accidents, and work layoffs.
* Heal from overly liking or disliking people, places, things or experiences and how that seems to distort their capacity to realize dreams, health, or vitality - including addictions, eating disorders, introvert social terrors, and compulsivity disorders.
* Take charge of managing the new multidimensional thinking needed for our times, not feeling overwhelmed or incapable of being organized or able to remember important details.
* Looking at loved ones - children, partner(s), parents, and the things that you're good at and proud of and still having a sense of emptiness and meanginglessness.
