Eleanor Rogers is a Registered Clinical Counsellor offering remote counselling in British Columbia including Burnaby, Greater Vancouver, and Vancouver Island.
I work with clients who are in the midst of difficult life transitions; who are faced with illness, grief and loss; who are recovering from addictions, trauma, or abuse; or who are otherwise experiencing dis-ease in their lives. Negative emotions, frustration, impaired personal relationships, confusion, lack of direction, or "feeling stuck" are common experiences during times of transition or crisis. Clients often find during counselling that their current situation offers them an opportunity to revisit and resolve unfinished business from the past, and that finding a new level of integration can result in greater emotional freedom, creativity, and more engaged spirituality. I can help you make sense of your experience by offering support, encouragement, and practical tools for your personal journey towards healthy well-being.
We will discuss strategies for recognizing patterns of thinking and behaviour, patterns that can trap you in negative cycles. Through gentle exploration, you will learn new approaches that help you to stop those cycles, and to consciously move forward, on your way to where you would like to be. Understanding and integrating your life experiences will allow you more freedom and flexibility to engage with your life and relationships in more positive ways.
In your counselling session, I draw on practical, experiential, attachment, and developmental theories, as well as new research in neuroplasticity and the benefits of contemplative practices and meditation exercises. I have Level 3 training in AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy) If your concerns relate primarily to spiritual exploration and questioning, we will be able to shift the focus of our sessions to address spirituality directly. Above all, though, I tailor my approach to your individual needs and tendencies, and recognize that our therapeutic relationship itself is often the strongest catalyst for positive change.
I hold a master's degree in counselling psychology from the University of British Columbia, and a master's degree in theological studies from the Vancouver School of Theology, during which I completed practicums in spiritual direction and in retreat design and leadership.
If you would like to explore the possibility of working together, please call me at 604- 833-5052. I look forward to meeting you.
