Don is a Registered Clinical Counsellor(since 2004) with a focus on families (in all their many forms) and relationships. Don has been working with families and children since 1969 first as a social worker in northern BC and then as a teacher and principal in Burnaby, a coordinator with the fledgling NITEP program at UBC, and most recently as a counsellor working with other professionals on a divorce and separation team, a family reunification team and a child and youth team providing support for anxious and depressed children (Alyson Jones and Associates).
Don is a divorce coach and has specialized training working with children (Collaborative Divorce Vancouver guidelines) a former member of the Parenting Coordinator Roster Society of BC and a member of the BC Hear The Child Society. Other training includes attachment work with Gordon Neufeld, family systems, trauma reduction, couples therapy, dispute resolution, restitution, lifespan integration and restorative justice(Australia protocols).
Don uses his knowledge of attachment theory to guide him but tailors his approach to the needs of his clients. His is not a cookie-cutter approach.
