In my counselling sessions I work to maintain and ensure a safe environment for my clients. I try to create a space where clients feel free of judgment or saying the "wrong" thing. I believe a strong level of trust within a client-counsellor relationship is needed in order to create change outside of that relationship and I build this trust with an openness and willingness to meet every client where they are at.
Counselling can be a challenging but rewarding process and I feel privileged to have a part in helping people create positive change. My experience as a highschool counsellor has allowed me to gain knowledge regarding transitioning into post secondary and the work force, as well as build my competence with counselling techniques. I have a special interest in helping individuals find a stronger sense of self that I believe helps to better navigate life transitions, stresses, career changes and relationships. I see great power in identifying areas of strength, as well as areas for growth and believe that once a client can better identify their values and how they would like to be in the world, growth happens almost organically and in the direction of desire. My wish is for the people I work with to one day leave counselling with a stronger sense of self.
