The Human Side of Support
Sometimes, the hardest part of being neurodivergent, or just feeling "different", is the sheer exhaustion of trying to fit into a world that wasn't built for you. If you’re tired of masking your true self or feeling chronically overwhelmed, I want you to know that you aren’t alone, and you aren't broken.
Hi, I’m Allison. I’m a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) based in Vancouver, and I enjoy working with folks who are ready to stop performing and start building a life that actually honors their natural rhythm. Whether you are navigating ADHD, autism, or are simply a person who has always felt a bit different, my goal is to help you move toward what truly matters to you.
My Approach: Flexible, Curious, and Real
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent over a decade supporting neurodivergent kids, teens, and their families. That work taught me one vital truth: therapy cannot be a one-size-fits-all "treatment plan." It has to be as unique as the person sitting across from me.
My practice is grounded in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I love ACT because it is realistic and deeply human. We won’t just talk about fixing symptoms; we will look at the big picture. We’ll learn to make room for difficult thoughts and feelings, including those big, heavy questions about meaning and mortality, while navigating life with compassion and curiosity.
Outside the Office
I believe that therapy should be a relational, collaborative space where you can finally be your unfiltered self. To encourage that, I try to lead by example. Honestly? I’m a little weird and proud of it. I’m a deep thinker who loves diving into niche interests, whether that’s a complex board game, a science fiction series, or a new topic I’ve become obsessed with.
I bring humor, warmth, and my genuine self into our sessions. I’m here to be a partner in your process: someone who is gently challenging when needed, but always grounded in respect for your path.
My Office Locations
I currently support clients from two distinct spaces in Burnaby and Vancouver, depending on your needs and preferences:
- Fern Leaf Counselling: My private practice offers a quiet, dedicated space (both in-person and virtually) where we can dive deep into the work of values-alignment and personal growth.
- This World's Ours Centre: I am proud to offer sessions at this inclusive community hub. This is a wonderful space for those looking for a neuroaffirming environment that understands the importance of belonging and specialized support.
Wherever we meet, my goal is to provide a setting where you feel safe to unmask and be yourself.
Let’s Connect
There is no one right way to move through life, but there is a way that feels worth exploring for you. If you’re looking for a counsellor who gets it and won't ask you to fit into a mold, I’d love to walk with you for a while.
I offer a free 15-minute consultation to see if we’re a good fit. I look forward to meeting the real you :)
