I work with primarily with couples. I have advanced training in Gottman Method Couples Therapy. In couples therapy we learn to improve communication, identify previous emotional injuries, talk about unresolved problems and discover underlying issues, find areas of commonality and compromise, work through old pains in order to move forward and talk about what matters. In some cases, we deal with hard topics like affairs and trauma or addiction recovery.
Working with clients fifty and over is an area of focus in my work. Specific issues here include: becoming empty nesters, infidelity, depression, differing expectations about retirement, money issues, health and sexual issues, and disenfranchised grief and ambiguous loss. I hold a post-graduate Certificate in Couples and Family Therapy and a Masters Degree in Social Work.
I have training in Cognitive Behavior Therapy. I offer screening and cognitive behavior therapy to individuals for mental health issues such as depression, anxiety, dementia and hoarding disorder. I provide consultation to families on dementia care.
