I work with adolescents and adults seeking therapy for a variety of life stressors, including for disordered eating, anxiety, burnout and life transitions. In sessions I use CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), strength based interventions and mindfulness based practices. Through my work as a counsellor, I have also found creative art therapies extremely helpful in providing emotional insight and expression. The feedback I have receive from clients is that they like working with me because of my genuine and empathetic nature. I come to sessions prepared with possible strategies and recommendations, but you choose what we discuss and the areas of of your life you want to work on. Above all else, I want you to feel respected and validated.
While recovery is challenging, one of my greatest passions in my job as a counsellor is helping clients develop tools and gain insight so that they no longer lean on disordered eating behaviours. Wherever you are in recovery, my approach is compassionate and client centered. Some potential goals for therapy are reducing disordered eating behaviours, tackling negative self talk and creating structure in your life. Having worked as a therapist at multiple eating disorder treatment programs (including treating ARFID), I apply these principles into my private practice. I am a HAES (Health At Every Size) aligned clinician and incorporate a social justice lens into my work as a therapist.
