Practice Information

I hold a Master’s degree in Counselling and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I provide online counselling across British Columbia, supporting clients in Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, Surrey, Victoria, and other regions. In addition to English, I speak fluent Mandarin, Cantonese,  Taiwanese and Malay. Having lived in Southeast Asia, I bring a strong understanding of Chinese family culture, values, and expectations.

I specialize in working with executives, leaders, physicians, entrepreneurs, and other high‑achieving professionals who are navigating sustained pressure, burnout, demanding roles, or major life transitions. Many clients seek counselling when constant responsibilities begin affecting their sleep, mood, relationships, or sense of direction. I offer a calm, structured space to step back, think clearly, and develop practical strategies to move forward with steadiness and purpose.

My practice is informed by Adlerian Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I support individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, work‑life balance challenges, relationship stress, and other concerns. I welcome clients from diverse backgrounds and with a wide range of presenting issues.

I see myself as an agent for change in the counselling process. I acknowledge and validate each client’s lived experience, help clarify their motivation for counselling, and pay close attention to what matters most to them. I listen for strengths and look for opportunities to amplify those strengths. When clients become clear about their values and direction, I invite them to describe their preferred future and support them in taking small, meaningful steps toward it. Goals are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time‑bound. Because change can feel overwhelming, I ensure the process remains safe, manageable, and non‑threatening. My hope is to help clients develop practical coping skills and move forward in ways that feel purposeful and meaningful.

I offer a free 20‑minute initial consultation to help prospective clients determine whether we are a good fit. You are welcome to reach out and book a no‑obligation consultation. You do not have to face challenges alone.

Executive and Leadership Counselling Approach

Many of the clients I work with hold demanding roles—executives, physicians, entrepreneurs, senior leaders, and professionals who carry significant responsibility. These individuals often navigate high‑stakes decisions, complex interpersonal dynamics, and sustained pressure that affects their sleep, mood, relationships, and overall well‑being. My counselling approach is designed to meet the needs of people who operate in fast‑paced, high‑expectation environments and who benefit from structured, practical, and culturally attuned support.

High‑achieving professionals often present with burnout, chronic stress, decision fatigue, perfectionism, imposter feelings, or difficulty balancing personal and professional roles. They may feel isolated, overwhelmed, or unsure how to move forward without compromising their values or performance. I offer a calm, steady space where clients can slow down, think clearly, and reconnect with what matters most.

Men’s Mental Health and Leadership Challenges

Many of the men I work with carry significant personal and professional responsibilities. Men in leadership roles often feel pressure to remain composed, capable, and self‑reliant, even when they are experiencing stress, burnout, or emotional strain. Cultural expectations, family roles, and workplace norms can make it difficult for men to express vulnerability or seek support. I provide a confidential, non‑judgmental space where men can explore their experiences openly, understand the patterns that shape their responses, and develop healthier ways of coping. I support men navigating performance pressure, identity concerns, relationship stress, communication challenges, and the internal expectations that come with being a provider, leader, or role model. My approach helps men strengthen emotional resilience, clarify values, and move forward with greater steadiness and confidence.

Culturally Competent Counselling for Chinese and Asian Clients

As a counsellor fluent in Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, and Taiwanese, and with lived experience in Southeast Asia, I understand the cultural expectations, family dynamics, and intergenerational pressures that many Chinese and Asian clients face. Concepts such as filial piety, achievement expectations, family reputation, and emotional restraint can shape how stress is experienced and expressed.

I support clients who are navigating:

  • cultural identity conflicts
  • immigrant and acculturation stress
  • family expectations around career, marriage, and success
  • communication challenges within traditional or collectivist family systems
  • cross‑cultural transitions and life changes

My approach integrates cultural sensitivity with evidence‑based methods, helping clients honour their cultural background while building healthier patterns that support their well‑being.

Therapeutic Framework

My work is grounded in Adlerian Theory, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), and Solution‑Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). These approaches allow me to combine depth, structure, and practicality:

  • Adlerian Theory helps clients understand their lifestyle patterns, beliefs, and motivations.
  • CBT offers tools to manage thoughts, emotions, and behaviours.
  • SFBT focuses on strengths, possibilities, and small steps toward meaningful change.

This integrated approach is especially effective for professionals who appreciate clarity, direction, and actionable strategies.

How I Work With Clients

I see myself as an agent for change—someone who helps clients understand their patterns, clarify their goals, and take purposeful steps forward. My process includes:

  • acknowledging and validating the client’s lived experience
  • exploring what matters most to the client
  • identifying strengths and amplifying them
  • clarifying motivation and desired outcomes
  • co‑creating specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time‑bound goals
  • breaking change into manageable steps
  • ensuring the counselling process feels safe, non‑threatening, and supportive

Clients often tell me they appreciate the structure, clarity, and steadiness I bring to sessions. My goal is to help clients develop practical coping skills, strengthen resilience, and move forward with confidence and purpose.
