Dr. Jacqueline McAdam is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who meets clients virtually. I have been working in the field for over forty years as a psychotherapist my area of practice is extensive and includes:
Mental health challenges-child and youth mental health, depression, anxiety, anger management, emotional regulation, executive functioning, trauma, grief and loss, pre- and post-partum depression
Relationship difficulties- parenting, life transitions, loneliness, aging, illness, unemployment, separation and divorce
Immigrant and Refugee Issues–settlement, forced migration, trauma of war, a specific focus on children, youth and families in especially difficult circumstances.
My work is strength-based and draws on theories and practices that enhance resilience.
My practice addresses many pathways of life, our transitions, our mental health, our mental challenges and those unexpected adversities that set us back. I have spent a great deal of time in Africa working to mitigate the trauma of war on children, youth and families. I utilize a Resilience Framework to assess and address the presenting challenges that I write about in my book, More than Luck: Cultivating a Resilient Mindset, Navigating Life and Adversity. My therapeutic practice draws on theories of resiliency, positive psychology, humanistic psychology, the Satir Model, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, IFS, and Interpersonal Neurobiology. I continually adjust and shape my therapeutic practice to meet the needs of those I work with. One size does not fit all.
