Frequently asked questions
Sharing personal challenges can feel overwhelming in a new setting, so we can move entirely at your pace with no pressure to share details you are uncomfortable with at the moment. Our first conversation aims to build a therapeutic relationship where we can get to know one another and for you to ask questions about me and how I can best meet your needs. At your discretion, we can begin to discuss what brings you into therapy and how I can support you in achieving your goals.
A crucial factor in counselling is ensuring that we have the right therapeutic fit. My approach is directed towards meeting my clients where they are at and establishing safety. I aim to create a space where you can feel heard and encourage you to challenge yourself within your comfort zone. It is recommended that we start with a consultation so that we can determine my suitability for meeting your needs. At any point, if you feel that another therapist’s style or focus would be more helpful, I would be happy to connect you with trusted colleagues.
Not at all, and goals can shift throughout our time together. Quite often, individuals find themselves feeling unwell or unsatisfied with the direction of their life, unable to figure out exactly what it is that they need to feel better. Together, we can regain hope and collaborate to find the answers you may be looking for.
I suggest starting out with a weekly or bi-weekly cadence depending on your needs. I offer sessions based on your comfort level, as some individuals prefer to meet on a monthly or as-needed basis. After we develop some rhythm to our sessions, we can re-evaluate the frequency as needed.
Yes. Ensuring therapy is accessible to all individuals is an important aspect of my work. If you believe that a lower cost would reduce barriers to therapy for you, I would be happy to negotiate a reasonable fee for our sessions based on need and availability.
