I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC #15070) in British Columbia with seven years experience working in clinical settings and 14 years in health and well-being. I have a Bachelor of Communication (Bond University, Australia), a Master of Counselling Psychology (Adler University, Vancouver), and a background in yoga and yoga therapy that informs my holistic approach to mental health.
I am trained in:
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
- Satir Transformational Systemic Therapy
- Emotionally Focused Family Therapy
- Art Therapy
I also use Somatic Experiencing and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy approaches.
Professional Experience
I worked as a Clinical Counsellor in an outdoor-based program supporting vulnerable youth experiencing anxiety, depression, substance use issues and addictions, complex trauma and PTSD, ADHD and autism spectrum disorders, and other challenges. I went on to work as a Child and Family Counsellor at a not-for-profit community-based agency in Burnaby, where I now divide my time between agency work and private practice.
I am a qualified yoga teacher and yoga therapist and my experience in the health and wellness field has informed my holistic approach to mental health. I consider a client's challenges in the context of their full life picture including physical health, family of origin, work, home environment, and socio-economic background.
My previous 10+ year career in business and marketing led to a special interest in work stress and burnout, and I have been facilitating online group counselling and educational workshops to organisations across the USA with the International Association of Administration Professionals.
Areas of Focus
I work with adult clients seeking support for:
- Unresolved Trauma
- Anxiety
- Depression
- Family of Origin Issues
- Difficult Life Transitions
- Finding Meaning and Purpose
I engage in regular clinical supervision with a Registered Clinical Supervisor as well as ongoing professional development each year.
As a sensitive and intuitive person, empathy and compassion are at the heart of my practice. My priority is creating a strong sense of safety for the client, and trust in the therapeutic relationship, and I encourage clients to move at their own pace.
You will be treated with respect and met with warmth and openness. I can help you process problematic thoughts and difficult emotions, develop coping skills and increase resilience, and help you move from feeling stuck to navigating a path forward.
I invite you to book a complimentary 15-minute consultation to discuss your goals, ask any questions you may have, and see if it feels like a good fit to work together.
