I have provided psychotherapy for a wide range of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, relationship difficulties, domestic violence, sexual concerns, sexuality/identity issues, cross-cultural issues, life transitions, spirituality, personal growth, childhood abuse, workplace stress/burnout, academic difficulties, grief/loss, social anxiety and loneliness. I have also provided group support and education to individuals in emotional crisis and recovering from workplace injuries as well as a co-facilitated a support group for partners, family, and friends of transgendered individuals. My clients have come from diverse backgrounds and range in age from late-adolescent to geriatric. I am also experienced in working with individuals with complex health issues (e.g. chronic pain, disability, brain injury).
I welcome clients of all backgrounds, lifestyles, and personal expressions. I believe that an effective working therapeutic relationship between the client and therapist is one of the most important elements in achieving therapeutic success. A supportive and caring therapeutic relationship allows clients to feel safe and comfortable enough to explore personal experiences that can be painful and overwhelming, but ultimately lead to healing, self-empowerment, confidence, and personal transformation. A good fit between therapist and client, and a feeling of comfort, safety, and acceptance is therefore important for a client in selecting a therapist.
