I am a Registered Psychologist, with a doctorate in Clinical Psychology. I provide individual psychotherapy to adult clients for a variety of presenting issues, including depression, anxiety, family and relationship difficulties, self-esteem, cross-cultural issues, life transitions, spirituality, personal growth, social anxiety/loneliness, and workplace stress/burnout.
I am committed to providing a safe, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment for my clients. Opening up to one's personal experiences can feel vulnerable for many people. Therefore, building an effective therapeutic relationship and ensuring clients feel safe and supported is of utmost importance to me. Both client and therapist should feel good fit and rapport in therapy sessions.
My approach to therapy is client-centred and collaborative, where clients are active participants in the therapeutic process and encouraged to draw from their own strengths and inner wisdom to guide them in their life's journey. Rather than using a 'prescription pad' approach, my aim is to empower clients through self-awareness and insight to make their own choices and create their own path towards greater well-being and life satisfaction.
My approach is also tailored to each client's needs, and draws from my training and experience with a variety of theoretical orientations, including experiential/gestalt, mindfulness, Hakomi, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioural, and psychodynamic traditions. I am known for my warm and empathetic style, and welcome clients of all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, and lifestyles.
Fees for standard, non-medical-legal services are charged at the BCPA rate of $200/hour. Services by a registered psychologist are often included in extended health coverage; please check with your provider for details. Psychologists' fees are also income tax deductible as a medical expense.
In addition to my private practice, over the past twenty years I have provided clinical and consultation services in a variety of settings in British Columbia, Ontario, and Michigan, including a multidisciplinary pain clinic, university psychological services centre, outpatient mental health centres, physical rehabilitation programs, psychiatric hospitals, and a tertiary assessment and treatment centre for clients with developmental disabilities. I also previously worked in a group practice providing treatment and personal injury medical-legal assessments for the law courts. I have had extensive training and experience with a number of therapeutic approaches, including humanistic/experiential, mindfulness, Hakomi, solution-focused, cognitive-behavioural, family systems, EMDR, short-term crisis intervention, and psychodynamic approaches.
