Swarn Hardy is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who sees clients in her blissfully quiet “tiny house” office in the Cowichan Valley.
Are you feeling overwhelmed with life? Are your normal ways of coping with stress just not working for you anymore? Are you longing to be more real and authentic in your day-to-day life? Are you looking for some help with your important relationships? Living with depression, anxiety, and unresolved trauma is exhausting and outside help is often needed to get better.
Many of your current struggles most likely have roots in your past. To "dig deep" and heal the roots takes great strength and courage, and a lot of support. What if you had the support you needed to build up your inner strength so that you could actually heal your pain rather than just cope with it? What would it be like to trust yourself, to feel worthy of love, and to cultivate health and happiness in your life?
I offer a safe, non-judgmental place where we can work together to heal the roots of your pain. There will be tears and laughter. There will be time and space for your grief and anger, fear and shame, as well as for your hopes, your dreams, and your successes. There will be a focus on building inner strength, processing unresolved experiences, connecting with your authentic self, and creating a vision for your life.
The healing process is different for each individual, and I enjoy supporting people to find their unique path to wellbeing. My background is in transpersonal and somatic psychology, spirituality, trauma, and holistic models of healing, such as yoga, acupressure, and herbology. I believe that each person has the potential to live a life rich in meaning, love, and joy.
I have advanced training in Somatic Attachment Psychotherapy, an approach to counselling focused on resolving shock and attachment trauma, and the combination of the two, called complex trauma. Complex trauma usually underlies most recurring problems for which people seek help.
As an attachment-based therapist, I focus on repairing relational ruptures that have lead to a person’s distorted beliefs about herself. Resolving these core beliefs by attending to the dysregulated states held in the body can transform the debilitating effects of trauma into a more integrated and healthy sense of self.
