Practice Information
I have a master’s degree in counselling and am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. I offer online counselling via Zoom. Apart from English, I speak fluent Mandarin and several other Chinese dialects, such as Cantonese, Hokkien and Taiwanese. I have lived in Southeast Asia and have a good understanding of Chinese family culture, values, and expectations.
My counselling practice is shaped by the Adlerian Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Theory, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and the Gottman Method Couples Therapy. I am open to working with all client types and challenges. I work with individuals challenged by anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, and work-life balance issues.
I see myself as an agent for change in the counselling process. I acknowledge and validate the client’s life experience. I help the client clarify their motivation for counselling. I am curious about the client’s life and pay attention to what matters to the client. I like to listen for the client’s strengths and find the opportunity to amplify those strengths. When the client is clear about what matters to them, I will invite them to share their desired future. I encourage the client to take small steps toward the goal. The goal must be specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. Change can be overwhelming; therefore, the process of change should be non-threatening to the client. My best hope is to help my clients learn coping skills to get on with their lives in the most meaningful way.
I offer a free 20-minute initial consultation to help prospective clients to decide whether there is a good counsellor/client fit. I encourage you to reach out and book the no-obligation free initial consultation. You don’t have to suffer alone. I can help.
