Ruth holds a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, with a private office in beautiful North Vancouver, BC. It can be difficult to reach out for help and one of Ruth’s main goals is to ensure that you feel supported and safe, when you don’t know where else to turn.
Ruth sees adults who are struggling with a variety of issues, such as: anxiety, depression, anger, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, personal injury, and abusive relationships. She also supports couples through difficult periods or times of transition, including as they enter marriage, parenthood, or following a major incident such as an affair.
Through counselling, you can expect to understand contributing factors to your particular issues, increase your self-awareness, as well as develop more confidence and direction in your life. With this clarity and skills learned, you can change problematic thinking and behaviour patterns, creating a life that you are excited to wake up to each day.
Ruth is also approved to provide counselling through both ICBC and the Crime Victim Assistance Program (CVAP).
In her work, Ruth draws upon a variety of methods from several modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural, Mindfulness, Solution-Focused, and Existential therapies. When appropriate, Ruth also incorporates art into her practice, such as with personal injury.
Knowing that both your time and money are valuable assets, Ruth places high importance on making sure her approach is effective, transparent, and flexible to your needs and goals.
**Please note: Ruth will be on maternity leave until spring 2019 (therefore not accepting new clients). Feel free to contact Ruth with any questions regarding her return to work or to inquire about services.
