I am a Psychotherapist in private practice with over 30 years of clinical experience. I have specialized training in Relationship issues, Self Esteem, Anxiety/Depression, Grief/Loss, Trauma, Life Transitions.
If you are struggling with any of these issues, and you are ready to enter into counseling or psychotherapy, I believe that it can be an opportunity to create growth and learning. If you are able to commit to the process, it can help you develop a more conscious relationship with yourself and others.
It is important to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with and that has good experience and training.
It is a Big Step to call a therapist. I see it as a healthy decision, as I believe we are all striving for growth. Some people will call because they are in crisis. Others because they are depressed and in pain either in their relationships or with themselves. Whatever the reason, I believe it takes courage to embark on this process.
We will work together. I will not see your pain as pathology but the absence of adequate understanding. We will address and help you work through the issues you are struggling with inside yourself, but will also address the context in which these issues have developed. I will be dealing with you as a person behind the symptoms.
If we are doing couple's work I will also help you to understand the dynamics that you have both created in the relationship. It is not about blame but rather a deeper understanding of the patterns you have co-created. We have all learned different ways of trying to protect ourselves in order to survive. We will, through in-depth inquiry and emotional understanding help you get more in touch with yourself and the patterns you have developed.
We will work together in an atmosphere of mutual collaboration and trust. I have a strong respect for confidentiality, clear boundaries, and a commitment to the therapeutic process.
I have done many years of my own personal work and supervision. I respect the depth and complexity in all of us.
I do not see myself as the expert on the truth but more a skilled clinician who has a lot of clinical training and experience. I have a Masters degree in clinical Social work from the University of Toronto. I completed a 5 year Analytic program in Bioenergetic Analysis.
For the last 30 years I have specialized training in relational therapy which includes self-psychology, intersubjectivity, and women's development from a relational model. I am a registered clinical Social worker as well as a registered clinical counselor.
