How are you? Are things going as well as you'd like them to? If not, maybe I can help. I understand how challenging day-to-day life can be, and have the skills and experience to help you manage your mood, your relationships, or whatever else may be bothering you. I have a special interest in working with couples, as well as adults who are struggling with difficult families of origin, addiction, and the effects of addiction, but welcome clients who are working through difficult situations of all sorts. I'm also experienced in helping manage the effects of depression, anxiety, stress, concussion, brain injury, chronic pain, autoimmune disorders, and life transitions.
I'm a dedicated health care professional who believes that mental wellness interacts with physical health to produce overall wellbeing, and that counselling can help people feel better and cope more effectively with the challenges they’re experiencing. I also strongly believe in the benefits of stress reduction, and encourage my clients to consider lifestyle adjustments as a means of reducing feelings of unwellness. I operate from the perspective that every individual has the capacity to heal themselves and become healthier and happier along their journey, and incorporate a narrative approach along with mindfulness and other types of therapy in my work.
I work with couples of all ages and stages using the Gottman Method for relationship counselling. Are you unhappy in your relationship, and maybe even yelling and fighting all the time, but not sure how to create positive change? Are past issues - like infidelity and substance abuse - affecting your current ability to move forward with your partner? Are you in a good relationship and want to keep things going well? Or, are you moving in together or getting married and looking for strategies to improve your communication or conflict resolution? By using research-based exercises and interventions, I'm able to help couples effectively build skills and improve the quality of their relationships. If you’re looking for more intimacy, understanding, affection, friendship, and respect from your partner, give me a call and let’s get things started today.
** I'm currently accepting new clients and offer free initial appointments. My fees are based on a sliding scale and may be reduced; I do not turn people away for financial reasons, and encourage individuals who would benefit from either individual or couples counselling to contact me. **
