I am a registered clinical counsellor providing individual and couples counselling in-person and virtually. I hold a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology, am a certified Art Therapist, Life Coach, and have training in mindfulness. I lived abroad for many years and have a unique perspective on multiculturally sensitive counselling.
I have worked in the counselling field for over 20 years and specialise in anxiety, stress, depression, anger management, emotional dysregulation, self-defeating behaviours, self-esteem, life transitions, family issues, ADHD, grief and trauma.
I use an integrative approach in order to focus on client's individual needs. Some of the theories I draw from include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Theory (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness and Trauma-Informed practice among others. Focus in session is based on individual strengths, resolving inner distress, transforming thought and perceptions, enhancing body awareness, and creating personal goals.
I believe that people have the natural potential to actualize and find meaning in their lives. This may mean digging deep, having courage, or being vulnerable. Through an authentic and trusting therapeutic alliance clients are be able to gain the awareness and self-directed change they are looking for. Counselling is unique to each individual and I can guide you towards understanding the principal causes of your struggles, finding new perspectives, achieving your goals, and equipping you with the necessary tools in order to live a more meaningful life.
