Hello! I’m Debbie
Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Registered Social Worker (MSW & RSW)
Do you wish that you could feel free from stress, anxiety, hopelessness, addiction, and other life challenges getting in your way? Do you find yourself feeling checked out of life and numb, or feeling out of control with your feelings and reactions without understanding why? Are you concerned with relationship issues? Grief and loss? These are just some examples of things I can support you with.
Our thoughts, emotions, and bodies have a way of communicating to us when we feel overwhelmed and out of control. Life also can have a way of throwing us additional curve balls; perhaps a job loss, a toxic relationship, a car accident, a new health diagnosis, or unresolved childhood issues. Many people experience anxiety, depression, and some form of trauma at some point in life; which can lead to feelings of hopelessness, despair, isolation, and overwhelming fear. These feelings directly impact our ability to function in life, can hold us back from having meaningful relationships, affects our work life, and can prevent us from developing and reaching goals we hope to achieve. Seeking help is a sign of strength, and can be the first step to committing to the road to recovery, and will directly benefit one’s mental wellness/health.
My approach is to partner with the people I work with, to help uncover your natural abilities to heal and gain perspective from all of life’s events, while holding a safe and supportive space. I am gentle, caring, non-judgmental, and use a collaborative approach to therapy. I will be validating in your concerns, yet able to challenge some of the unhelpful automatic thoughts and patterns that add to a lack of meaning and purpose. Together we will explore how to align values and yearnings with behaviors. I also use humor when suitable in sessions, as a way to connect and reduce tension.
Along side one another, I can support you to lessen the discomfort you are experiencing in life and enhance your ability to experience joy with yourself and others. Therapy will help to increase a sense of control in your life, and work to decrease unhelpful automatic and intrusive thoughts. In addition, you will notice a decrease in feelings of anxiety, depression, symptoms of trauma, shame, and grief.
Debbie has lived experience in the area of trauma. This path has inspired Debbie’s passion to walk beside the people she has worked with, to be a part of their healing process, and to foster hope that recovery is possible.
I offer a free 15 -minute consultation by telephone or as part of an initial session, to ensure a that I am a fit for you. Book your consultation now by email or by phone: 604 754-2207.
