Diana Dawson is a M.A., Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC), Brainspotting practitioner, living in Langley, who sees clients using convenient tele-health, online video, or phone options in British Columbia.
I provide 15 min free introductory calls to determine if we are a good fit to work together prior to a first session.
Studying psychology has been a large passion of mine, from my bachelors degree in Psychology and Sociology to my masters of arts degree in counselling psychology, working with people and helping them feel better in their lives has been what I have always wanted to do. I am so happy to be able to assist clients to understand themselves and their lives for a better future.
Being able to really focus on what is happening for you in your life, and what you would like to change is amazing work. Using a humanistic, strengths based and the trauma approach of Brainspotting offers the benefits of learning about yourself and how you were shaped, why you feel what you do and how to work with this in the future so that you tune into yourself and make decisions that honor that. To create a life that reflects you, your wants and needs is where we will feel the most at home. We all deserve to feel and live this way.
Helping clients find ways to bring a sense of calm, draw boundaries and to be able to tune into their own voices and needs is one of my favorite aspects of this work. I especially enjoy working with women and teens as often, and for many reasons, they are not able to really hear their own authentic voice which can lead to so many issues. Being able to help them find this is so rewarding. Through this work, seeing them find ways of feeling less stressed, experiencing more joy and more peace is so much of the reason I felt drawn to this work. During Covid19 this has become especially important.
For many clients, our past and often families have shaped our views so much that can lead to living a life that can feel not your own. Finding ways to bring calm into your life while at the same time understanding yourself better can be transformative and so helpful for our hectic lives. Women balancing the increasing demands of the modern family with often less supports and career pressures can find themselves almost lacking experiencing much of anything in their lives and wanting to change this. Teens who find themselves so confused and unable to feel truly themselves, while balancing family demands and social group pressures, who wish to live authentically for themselves can learn to tune in to who they are and find more calm in their lives.
A different way of feeling, experiencing and living is possible.
