Welcome!
I work with people experiencing a variety of life transitions and life struggles.
A stressful life event, life change, or a recent loss can make it feel like your bottom has fallen out from under you; your world once familiar to you, suddenly feels uncertain and full of chaos. Cumulative stress, chronic worry, or low mood may be interfering with your ability to live a fulfilling, meaningful life. For some - it's a stuck feeling that motivates them to seek support.
I’m an experienced counsellor and Registered Social Worker with more than 10 years in the field. I’ve worked in a variety of settings: cancer care, trauma recovery, mental health and addictions.
With a compassionate presence I support people to find their way through life stress and life change. I offer a collaborative, trauma-informed approach, beginning first with establishing a strong, safe alliance. From there we can identify problems, have therapeutic conversations, and uncover the resources + skills necessary to navigate life struggles.
My practice focuses on:
- illness in the family (including parenting through illness & children’s grief)
- life transitions (relationship changes, vocational or geographic changes, new parenthood)
- grief/loss
- low mood/depression
- anxiety/worry
- relationship/interpersonal struggles
- trauma (any event that overwhelms a person’s capacity to cope)
All kinds of stressful life events can leave lasting effects on one’s nervous system and psyche, affecting day-to-day functioning. I work with people to expand coping, increase understanding, process painful feelings, construct meaning, facilitate adjustment and find symptom relief. I draw from a variety of evidence-based approaches including: CBT, DBT, existential therapy, meaning-centered therapy, narrative therapy, mindfulness-based and somatic approaches. I adapt my approach to meet the needs and goals of the person I’m working with.
I consider it a great privilege to be led into the private (and painful) parts of people's lives and I'm constantly inspired by the clever and resilient ways that people grow around life stress.
You’re one step closer to finding the support you seek.
