I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor in private practice at Wellspring Counselling Inc., the founder and director of Wellspring Counselling Inc., and have been an Adjunct Professor of Counselling Psychology at UBC.
Wellspring Counselling Inc. provides counseling and psychotherapy services in Metro Vancouver and virtually across BC and Canada for anxiety, stress, anger, depression, relationships, parenting, career, personal growth, and more! The psychotherapy approach at Wellspring is integrative and combines Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR Therapy), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
I see individual adults in my practice for a variety of challenges as well as for personal growth - and also couples looking to improve how they communicate and relate to one another. I specialize in treating anxiety. I have clinical training in EMDR Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Clinical Hypnosis. My approach is experiential so that it does not stay abstract, but instead carries over into practical everyday life.
Some of the knowledge and tools that clients have found helpful to learn in session includes:
- How the brain and mind work
- Origins of psychological turmoil
- Managing stress and anger
- Psychological resilience
- Understanding and managing emotions
- Thinking & problem-solving
- How to change core beliefs
I also see both individuals and couples looking for relationship counselling. For relationship counselling, Alistair’s approach focuses on experientially teaching constructive communication, fostering a deeper understanding of the other’s underlying needs and emotions, and teaching how to relate in a more nurturing way to ultimately help increase validation, connection, and satisfaction in the relationship.
A bit about me: I am a father and a husband and my passions and priorities in life are being a great father and husband, and helping others lead a fulfilling, healthy, and positive life. Note: I do not currently provide treatment for domestic violence, sexual abuse or behaviour, borderline personality disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, dissociative disorders, or severe addictions.
