Feeling accepted by yourself, and authentically emotionally connected to others, contributes to your mental and physical wellness. When you experience self-criticism, loneliness, guilt or shame, it can lead to depression, anxiety, and hopelessness. When you feel distant from loved ones and friends, you can feel confused, disoriented and sad. When you have challenges at work that shake your identity or cause you stress, it can lead you to feel stuck, angry or frustrated, and lose motivation and passion for your career, and other parts of your life.
I believe that everyone deserves to be happy. Sometimes there are things outside of our control that derail our happiness, and sometimes we sabotage our own happiness with learned habits and behaviours that aren't serving us anymore. I want to help you set boundaries, harness your strengths, and find the courage to change what you want to change. I can help you identify what is getting in the way of joy, purpose, and connection in your life. We will start by talking about what matters most to you (work, relationship, lifestyle), and what isn't working. Together we will identify concrete, realistic steps you can take to change things you want to change in your life, and find healthy ways to cope. We can work together on little changes that, over time, can amount to new, more effective ways of being. You are the expert on your life and you choose what steps to take, and when. We work at your pace!
For couples, I can help you learn new ways of communicating more effectively, building intimacy, and strengthening your connection.
Whether you want to work on yourself, or work through issues with your partner, finding a therapist that is a good fit is the first step. Please contact me for a free phone consultation, (usually 15 - 30 minutes) to discuss your goals for counselling, and ask any questions you might have about what to expect.
