I am a Certified Canadian Counsellor with a private practice in Vancouver, B.C. Primarliy, I work as a therapist with a specialized focus in pain management, reintegration into work settings, mild/moderate brain injury, depression, burnout, stress, anxiety, posttraumatic stress, and long term disability.
As a counsellor and team lead of a interdisciplinary physical rehabilitation program, I have spent extensive time educating and counselling both in individual and group settings. My interests include the body and mind connection to health and wellness, chronic pain, and helping clients manage depression, anxiety, anger, stress, trauma, grief and loss, adjustment to injury/illness, transitional life issues, along with helping clients work towards increasing their internal sense of control.
I am first and foremost focused on establishing safety, confidentiality and rapport within the therapeutic setting. I work from a client-centered approach; and therefore, am interested in helping you with the issues you identify as important. The belief behind my therapeutic approach is that along with cognitive restructuring and behavioural activation, the therapeutic space strives to be a safe foundation for the processing of difficult emotions, and working through intense and challenging emotions in a non-judgmental and open environment.
While we are unable to have complete control of every aspect of our lives, we can learn to establish healthy levels of control and boundaries within each situation that is presented to us. Ultimately, I believe that people are resilient, able to find solutions, and are capable of survival- and more importantly, capable of thriving. I am interested in helping you develop a more authentic relationship with yourself, believing this to be a good basis for health, wellness, happiness and peace within yourself, and with the important people in your life.
