Take a deep breath and imagine what it would be like to feel completely at home in your own body and showing up for yourself like a trusted, life-long friend that will always have your back. Imagine knowing exactly how to respond to disruptive mood or anxiety issues so that they get better rather than worse. Self-worth isn’t about being perfect or hustling to earn your own approval. It’s about feeling complete just as you are, even when you make mistakes and still have a lot to work on.
I set my practice apart by combining Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) with holistic counselling. CBT, a system of evidence-based tools, is prescriptive, formulaic, and goal-directed. It provides structure and strength to sessions. Holistic therapy, by contrast, is creative and gentle. Many people need more than a set of tools to truly come into relationship with themselves and heal. It pulls from metaphors, imagery, and narrative. It provides flexibility, nuance, and grace to sessions. These theories are wonderfully complementary and work together to facilitate an inner environment that is safe and compassionate. They support us in improving our lives through achievable goals and hard work balanced with acceptance of that which we cannot change, appreciating beauty, and allowing joy into our lives in even the toughest times.
