Sandy has a Masters in Counselling Psychology, is a Registered Clinical Counsellor, and an International Certified Alcohol and Drug Counsellor. She provides counselling services to individuals, couples and families in the East Burnaby and Tri Cities (New Westminster, Coquitlam, Port Moody) areas. The focus of her practice centers on issues arising out of addictions, emotional challenges, problematic behaviors and traumatic experiences; she also provides couples counselling.
Her counselling practice assists people who are faced with challenges and obstacles that prevent them from living life well. She does this by providing a safe, inviting and non-judgmental approach in which she collaboratively works with clients. The focus of her approach is to break through barriers, reconnect with their strengths and move beyond problematic areas to preferred ways of being. At the center of her work is to explore alternate ways of thinking, behaving, and managing emotions. Therapeutic techniques and modalities she uses are informed by both the cognitive, emotional or behavioral aspects presented and what are best suited to the client. She believes clients come to therapy to reconnect with their authentic selves apart from the presenting challenges.
Sandy is authorized to provide counselling services for those who qualify for Crime Victim Assistance Program, Residential Historical Abuse Program and ICBC. She is an Affiliate Counsellor with some Employment Assistant Programs and is a trained practitioner in Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma and Abuse.
Sandy values a good client-counsellor fit and welcomes all questions by phone or email.
