Healing happens within supportive relationships that acknowledge the social context of our challenges and the knowledge and strengths that come from our lived experiences. I offer warm and relational counselling that invites people to hold their inner experience of feelings and knowing with curiousity and compassion using experiential and nature-connecting practices.
I am a white, queer, cisgender settler and work with an anti-oppressive and justice-focused lens. My areas of counselling include:
-
anxiety and worries
-
low-mood
-
grief and loss
-
relationships and attachment
-
gender and sexual identities
-
shame and self-loathing
-
personal/systemic trauma
-
internal conflict and decision-making
-
discrimination and oppression
-
chronic health conditions
-
feeling blocked and stuck
An an anti-oppression counsellor, I see that people are shaped by their social location within white supremacy, colonialism and patriarchy. The 'problems' that feel stuck and hard to heal have a present day and intergenerational context of living in and surviving/resisting oppressive social, economic and political systems. Our nervous system and trauma responses tell us about the ways we have we worked to find more safety, connection and belonging in a unjust world.
My training includes:
-
Focusing-oriented Therapy with Leslie Ellis
-
Systemic Trauma in Couples Therapy: Building Relational Privilege with Akilah Riley-Richardson
-
Indigenous Tools for Living with LK Wellness and Cultural Humility training
-
Advanced Emotion-Focused Family Therapy with Mental Health Foundations
-
SPACE program for caregivers supporting children with anxiety with Eli Lebowitz
-
M.Ed. in Counselling Psychology from UBC
At present, my counselling practice is online and limited to individuals 18 and older. I use Jane app's online platform which complies with Canadian privacy standards. Visit again for updates on group offerings. Please email me to book an appointment or a free 15-minute consultation.
