Sean Heales is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who is seeing clients at his office based in Langley. As we navigate through life, we are constantly confronted by challenges. In some instances, these challenges are greater than our support system can manage. It is during these times that speaking with a counsellor can prove invaluable in helping overcome whatever obstacles are in your path. Be it the challenges of raising a family to being in a relationship or simply feeling overwhelmed and stressed, Sean's calm and trustworthy approach is effective in offering the support and assistance necessary to help with your personal issues, family and parenting concerns, as well as relationships and life/career transitions. Sean regularly offers parenting workshops as well as individual parenting sessions for very specific concerns. Sean also offers sport performance consulting for athletes wishing to unlock their mental potential on the playing field using a combination of relaxation techniques and visualization exercises.
Working with a counsellor can be both an emotional and rewarding experience however, it does entail a lot of work on your behalf. Overcoming adversity in our lives is a daunting task when approached on your own. Sean will ensure that you are fully supported and guide you through the process by drawing on your individual strengths, courage, and creativity as you overcome your challenges. You may feel as if you are all alone, hopeless, or completely at a loss as to what you need to do. Counselling will help you get back on your path and provide you with an experience which will leave you better equipped to overcome challenges later on.
Sean's approach is based on the Adlerian model of Individual Psychology which suggests that each individual is a unique individual who has become the person they are today as a result of their choices and experiences in life. It is these experiences that define who you are and how you respond to life's challenges. All to often, we forget what we have learned that has been effective in the past. It is during these times we get off track. As a part of the work you will do with Sean, you will look back at these experiences and be reminded of what your strengths were in overcoming other adversity in your life and how you can translate those experiences into the current issues in your life. You can expect a truly collaborative experience with Sean as he challenges and guides you along the way.
Sean holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Simon Fraser University with a double major in English and Psychology as well as his Masters in Counselling from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. Sean Has also worked as a Mental Health Care worker with psychiatric patients in a transitional housing setting and also volunteered with the Vancouver Crisis Centre as a crisis and suicide counsellor.
