Life is often so much more difficult, messy and complicated than we expect. Sure, a lot of the time we feel we can manage and cope pretty well... but sometimes there are just too many things on to juggle or an unexpected curve ball get thrown our way. While you might be telling yourself "It's not that bad", or "I just need to hold myself together to get through this", it's at times like this where counselling can offer the space and support you deserve. At times like I think of the words by Lao-Tsu:
“A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”
My approach to counselling is very flexible and person-centred - this means we will co-create a therapeutic experience that is unique to you and your individual needs. This often includes a blend of trauma-informed, narrative, strength-based, somatic / mind-body and existential based styles and also draws upon my background as a psychologist (UK) and yoga practitioner. I particularly focus on navigating the natural complexities of being human, seeking to untangle the challenges life throws at us and building your resiliency for future experiences. Ultimately, I hope my clients gain clarity and insight into their present situation and healing for their past hurts. I also believe counselling can include a growth and nurture focus on positive engagement and flourishing in life (e.g. exploring your sense of identity, purpose and direction in the world).
Originating from the UK, I have an authentic, warm, and down-to-earth direct kind of style. While of course there are times to be serious in counselling, I also invite a playful and curious tone into sessions at times to support a spirit of exploration. Yes, therapy can be hard and difficult, but at times it can also be joyous, illuminating and spectacular and I would be privileged to support you across the full spectrum in your healing journey.
Finding the right fit is such an important part of creating a positive therapeutic experience - I offer a free 15 minute consultation for all new clients for us to "virtually" meet and discuss any questions you may have. Please email me or follow the link to book.
