Sue Goldswain is a registered psychologist with a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology from UBC. She spent her early years working in addiction clinics, and has been in private practice for over 28 years, both in Vancouver and the Cowichan Valley, Vancouver Island. She returned to Vancouver in 2009. Her areas of experience are marriage/relationship, depression, anxiety, addictions, eating disorders, post-traumatic stress, grief & loss, chronic pain/illness, and life transitions.
Sue brings a warm and caring presence to her work, plus a keen mind and an ongoing commitment to excellence. Aside from her graduate training in individual & couples counselling, which focused on the expressive therapies, she has additional experience in Emotionally Focused Therapy, Jungian Dream work, Mind-Body-Stress-Reduction (MBSR) and, more recently, Integrative Psychotherapy . She has level 11 training in EMDR and has been treating all types of trauma with this very effective method for the past 17 years. Since 2008, Sue has been certified as an Imago Relationship Therapist, Advanced Clinician, and more recently, a certified Imago Relationship weekend workshop presenter. She, and her husband and partner John Boland, have been running Getting the Love You Want couple weekend workshops since 2013.. She is excited about this form of couples therapy which provides a safe and respectful environment for couples to rebuild commitment and passion in their relationship.
In her spare time, Sue is a creative writer, and is a graduate of The Writers' Studio, SFU
