I have spent a lot of my life in self-reflection. From my perspective, when I've spent so many years being so self-critical and so self-reflective I can show you some short cuts to get from where you are to where you want to be. I have always been curious about how we think, how we interact with others, how others see us and how it all comes together in day to day life, it's not easy. Much therapy seems to be a bit too soft and I believe there is a place for those that want something a little more direct. You will not be sitting on a couch and having me ask "how did that make you feel?" I am the type of therapist that is interested in cutting to the meaningful moment and using that to inspire change.
As a therapist I am best suited to those who are looking to make aggressive changes in their way of being and willing to implement suggestions and feedback. I am interested in short term results with significant gain. Therapy is expensive, let's get you feeling better and on a better path in 6-8 sessions. It won't be perfect, but it's a start.
What to expect: In the first session I'll ask you some questions to get to know you, get a sense of your goals and what brought you to seek out therapy. I'll likely assign you some "homework" to practice over the week until our next session. At the second session we'll address the homework and see if anything has changed, what new concerns there are and the subsequent sessions will follow in a similar way.
My approaches are based in CBT, SFT and Mindful self-compassion. I believe that in order to have any meaningful personal growth we have to truly accept where we are and that we never may get exactly where we want to be and that has to be ok. There is a way to turn your attention to the things that are working in your life and feel a sense of profound gratitude that you may not understand how to see. You can struggle in your mind, but you still have to get up and live in the world - so how do we do that?
If this direct approach feels like something that would work for you, please feel free to contact me to discuss session rates and appointment availability.
