Dr. Susan Blake, Registered Psychologist, provides individual and group psychotherapy with adults, working within a contemporary psychodynamic approach.Together we explore the experiences and relationships that have shaped who you are, and, at your own pace, work towards resolving the emotions, fears, wishes, expectations, and ties to loved ones, that cause you to repeat self defeating patterns of behaviour and interpersonal relating.
Therapy
helps to increase self-knowledge and self-acceptance, to be able to
change longstanding patterns, to have more of a sense of control and
choice in one's life, and to be more at peace with one's self.
Group therapy is the treatment of choice in a variety of situations.
Groups offer a safe, private forum for learning about one’s
relationship patterns, and provides opportunities to practice new, more
rewarding, effective ways of relating. Groups are especially helpful
when a person feels that their therapy has gotten stuck on an
intellectual level, leading to cognitive insight but limited personal
change.
