At Relationship Experts Vancouver, I (Richard Tatomir, MA, CCC), focus on delivering science-based, trauma, attachment, and body-informed therapy, training and supervision, keeping your most important relationships at the centre. My core values/aims, while working to create a "Welcome Home" experience for every client: Transform Conflict into Connection; Model and Embrace Vulnerability; don't just talk about what it might like be to change, have needs met, or feel deeply understood--give clients the in-the-moment experience of it at an emotional, physical, and spiritual level (create Corrective Emotional Experiences).
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” - from Man's Search for Meaning by Viktor Frankl, Psychiatrist, father of Existential therapy, Holocaust survivor.
I have developed a unique relationship-centred framework which I call RFIT (Relationship First Integrated Therapy) through over a decade working with couples and families as therapist, and as a Clinical supervisor, lecturer and researcher. RFIT integrates trauma processing therapies (EMDR, Internal Family Systems, and Body-centred/Somatic) that works to go beyond talk therapy as usual and not simply to change one's thinking about trauma, but transform and release the experience of trauma and anxiety being triggered in the body and nervous system, while also understanding and overcoming long-entrenched patterns of conflict and disconnection using the evidence-informed, attachment-based relationship therapies of Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Gottman Method Couples Therapy. Clients with more secure attachment and not plagued by the "daily bind" of trauma in their lives have room to define and work to achieve the "good life" (Socrates)--meaningfully fulfilled and free to achieve their potential in life and relationships.
Couples/Families/Parents, Teens, Individuals with relationship issues, trauma, anxiety, and other mental health issues (e.g. anxiety, depression), addictions can all benefit from this unique approach.
In-person at Langley and Vancouver, Virtual BC-wide. Crime Victim Assistance Program, First Nations Health Authority, and most major Extended Health Benefits insurance accepted (see website).
